To understand Humanities one must be able to devote time and effort into learning what it is either about. Humanities includes the study of reading, writing, language, and thinking and also the investigation of ideas, stories, and themes of all in all times and multitude. The study of Humanities will help emend my critical thinking skills and appreciate the diversity of human experience found in literature, history, languages and the arts. I am learning about the way different socializations think and why they assimilate the opinions and match certain set that makes them different from other polishs.
In calendar week one I larn that the beliefs that people of different countries have is very important to their cultural makeup. What one country values as customs and a way of life for them could be totally different for people from another country. Although the two may differ in their belief systems and values that doesn’t entertain they don’t have respect for each other.
Geertz, defines culture as a “historically transmitted pattern of meanings substantiate in symbols by means of which men can communicate, uphold and develop their own knowledge about and attitudes toward life.
All of us here in America have thousands of things that we can lay down for granted, that we have learned since we were so young that these things seem earthy even though they are in fact patterns of learned behaviors.” Pg.1.
Most ofttimes that which is cultural can be taken for granted within that certain culture so often that it appears natural, that it is habit. But when an individual is in another country where their culture is different then those people maybe viewed as uncivil or impolite because the customs are different and those people could be unaware that their behavior is different from what a someone may be accustomed to.
