This hadith is recorded by al Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, al Tirmidhi, al Nisai, Ibn Maajah, Ahmad, al Tahaawi, al Daaraquitni, al Baihaqi and others.
IV. superior general comments:
imam Abu Dawood said this hadith is half of Islam.
Some scholars imagine this hadith is half of worship.
Imam Ahmad and Imam Shafai said this hadith covers one third of knowledge.
Imam Al Baihaqi explained this statement by saying, this is so because the person earns reward with his heart, tongue and body. Thus, intention is mingled in one of these three components.
Imam al Shafai overly said that this hadith is applied in 70 topics of fiqh.
Imam Ahmad said the foundation of Islam revolves near three ahadith:
1.Actions are however by intention (#1 in Arbaeen)
2.Whoever introduces anything into this affair of ours that is not from it, shall have it rejected (#5)
3.The halal is clear and the haram is clear. (#6)
Abu Dawood stated that fiqh revolves around five ahadith:
1.Actions are but by intention (#1)
2.The morality is naseehah(#7)
3.The halal is clear and the haram is clear (#6)
4.There is no harming or reciprocating harm (#32)
5.



Whatever I forbid you, refrain from and whatsoever I order you to do, fulfill as much as you can. (#9)
Abu Ubaid-There is no report of the Prophet that is more comprehensive, self-sufficient and having more important points to it than this hadith.

Saeed ibn Mansoor and al Tabraani recorded on the authority of Ibn Masood (ra) that this hadith was stated concerning a man who cherished to marry a woman Umm Qais but she refused to marry him unless he would migrate from Makkah to Madinah. He migrated in order to marry her. He was called the migrant of umm Qais after that.
