Global Communications is one of many companies facing tremendous economic pressure in todays market. Many companies are looking for slipway to decrease costs, and increase their profits. A common practice employ today is looking at the best practices of other companies to nonplus creative ways to improve your own. This process, called generic benchmarking, has proven to be very effective. In this paper, the six companies that were examined to find solutions for Global Communications were NEC Corporation of America, Nitsuko Corporation, Sears Holding Corporation, Pier One Imports, supply EX, and Whirlpool. Each company had their own unique issues, but was confusable in the fact that they all recognized the need for change, and build creative ways to overcome their problems, and the result was a stronger, much efficient business. In trying to find the best practices of to each one of these companies, each one had to be closely examined. This paper entrust focus on the issues each company was facing, how they overcame them, and how the solutions used by these companies could be beneficial to Global Communications as well.
