The birth of McDonalds began with spearmond Albert Kroc. Ray Kroc was the exclusive distributor of a milk shake ecclesiastic called the Multimixer. Meanwhile, two brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald owned and ran a hamburger restaurant in San Bernadino, California, in the 1950s. Ray Kroc heard how well the McDonald brothers were doing using his Multimixers to dole out their customers. He met up with them and acquired the franchising right from them to run McDonalds restaurants. A keen success stage was in the making. In 1955, Ray Kroc founded the McDonalds sess and opened the startle restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. In 1961, he bought out the McDonald brothers. And the rest, as they say, is history. McDonalds grew into the largest restaurant organization in the world. Today, there are more than 33,000 McDonalds restaurants in 119 countries. Ray Kroc died in 1984 but his legacy is very much alive. His success story continues with McDonalds families of employees, franchisees and suppliers. His commitment, dedication and achievements continue to live on at McDonalds restaurants across the world.
McDonalds first made its way to Malaysia in December 1980 when McDonalds Corporation, the States gave GOLDEN ARCHES RESTAURANTS SDN BHD the license to operate McDonalds restaurants in Malaysia.
We in Malaysia got our first taste of McDonalds when McDonalds Malaysia opened its first restaurant at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur on 29 April 1982.
To date, McDonalds Malaysia has more than 200 restaurants located nationwide and is soon expanding at about 20-25 restaurants annually.
To date, McDonalds Malaysia employs more than 12,000 local people. The company was named as AON-Hewitt Best Employers in Malaysia in 2009 and 2011, as well as AON-Hewitt Best Employers in Asia Pacific in 2011.
