There are 4 cities with more than 1 million inhabitants, and another 11 cities with a population between 490,000 and 690,000. A little over 80% of the population is ethnical Germans. Another 8% are other European ethnicities, a little over 5% are Middle eastern ethnicities (the largest single minority group is Turkish).
